This is usually true. As with anything, though, there are exceptions. There are wonderful functional programming languages, languages better suited for real-time applications, languages better suited for desktop development… Sometimes it does pay to ask.

(MJD) I’ve heard the same statement about surgery. Orthopedics is replete with a ton of different techniques and the market abounds with a plethora of implants in all different varieties. But it’s usually not about the technique or the implant, it’s about the surgeon executing that technique or placing that implant.
